Blue Light Emergency Accidents

Figures recently obtained by the Liberal Democrats have revealed that over the past 5 years over five thousand accidents have occurred in Scotland involving “blue light emergency vehicles”.
Of these accidents, which exclude the Fire Service, 55 resulted in serious personal injury and 9 caused fatalities.

Liberal Democrats Shadow Justice Secretary Margaret Smith said:-

“The fact that emergency service vehicles are the cause of so many accidents and fatalities is extremely concerning”.

Whilst these vehicles are rightly in a hurry to get to where they are needed, these figures indicate that we need a serious look at what can be done to reduce the number of accidents that they are involved in”.

If you are involved in an accident involving an emergency service vehicle it is vital to obtain advice from a firm such as Macks Solicitors who are experts at handling such claims.

These are claims which are very often defended by the representatives of Emergency Services who often take the view that because a vehicle is heading to an emergency the driver can pay little regard for users of other vehicles that they may come across.

Macks Solicitors are extremely experienced at dealing with these cases. In a recent case at Bradford County Court we acted for a claimant who successfully brought a case against West Yorkshire Constabulary when his vehicle was involved in a collision with a vehicle being driven by one of their police officers. The representatives of the Police refused to accept more than 25% of the blame but at Court the driver of the Police vehicle was found to be 75% to blame for the accident.

If you are involved in an accident with an Emergency Service vehicle then Macks Solicitors are there to provide you with expert legal advice.
